Barium Stearate (Ba-Stearate)
What is Barium Stearate?
Barium Stearate is a white powder formed by the reaction of stearic acid with barium hydroxide. It's primarily used as a heat stabilizer and lubricant in PVC and other thermoplastic materials.
Key Properties:
- Melting Point: ~225°C
- Insoluble in water and ethanol
- Excellent long-term thermal stability
- Acts as both internal and external lubricant
Industrial Applications:
- PVC Stabilization: Used in rigid and flexible PVC profiles, pipes, and sheets.
- Lubricant Additive: For wire coatings and insulation materials.
- Paints & Inks: Improves dispersion and pigment suspension.
